On Sept. 29, a Spruce Street resident met with another officer about a stolen paddleboard.
The woman stated that earlier in the day, she realized her paddleboard was stolen from her backyard. She stated that she hadn’t used it in some time and wasn’t sure exactly when it was stolen by suspected it was sometime during the weekend of Sept. 26. The woman also stated that Ingerson, a neighbor, might be a potential suspect, since he was due in court in October after his dog attacked a dog she was watching earlier this year.
The officer later found out about the previous McKinley Street incident and went to speak to the owner of the Kia.
The owner of the Kia told the officer that Ingerson allegedly told him he needed a ride to pick up the canoe. After arriving, he question Ingerson about the canoe and he reportedly told him not to worry about it. They were then confronted by the other man and left. Ingerson told him to drive to Federal Street where he allegedly showed him another canoe that he wanted to steal to sell at Atlantic Traders, which would give him about $400. The man stated that he wouldn’t help him and drove him home.
The officer went over to speak to Ingerson about the incident and he allegedly corroborated the Kia owner’s story. He also allegedly admitted to selling his neighbor’s paddleboard because he needed court money.
On Oct. 1, the first officer stopped the Kia on I-393 and Bouton Street for a motor vehicle violation. After completing the traffic stop, the officer spoke to the driver about the previous canoe incident. The driver again alleged that he was “helping Ingerson retrieve a canoe which belonged to him.” After the incident, he realized that Ingerson had brought him there to allegedly try and steal the canoe.
The second officer went to Atlantic Traders on Oct. 2, and confirmed that the paddleboard was sold there on Sept. 24.
The officer took out a warrant for Ingerson’s arrest on Oct. 20.
On Oct. 29, the officer went to the Merrimack County House of Corrections to speak to Ingerson about the incident. He allegedly said that the canoe was on the ground next to the parked vehicle and denied trying to steal the canoe. He also did not wish to speak about the incident in depth.
On Oct. 30, a warrant was taken out for his arrest on the attempted theft charge.
