The officer spoke with a woman who stated that she and her new boyfriend left her apartment around 2:30 p.m. and walked toward the mailboxes of the Island Shores Estate complex. While walking to the mailboxes, her ex, Drew, was reportedly standing nearby with a friend. The friend then walked over to them and got into a verbal altercation with the new boyfriend, she alleged.

Drew, who had an protective order to stay away from the woman, allegedly “stood approximately 12 to 15 feet away from her observing the altercation for a brief time before walking back towards (the friend’s) apartment,” according to the report. The DVO, which was issued on May 5, after Drew was arrested for second-degree assault as well as other charges, stated that Drew must stay within 300 feet away the victim, according to the report.

After the verbal altercation ended, the woman left the area for a few hours. When they returned around 5:30 p.m., they reportedly found pry marks on the doorknob area of the doorframe. They entered the apartment and looked around and reportedly found about $140 in cash missing, a stolen coffeemaker, some computer cards, and missing paperwork including birth certificates and social security cards, IDs, and court paperwork, according to the report.

“(The woman) said she believed Shaun had something to do with this,” according to the officer.

The officer then went to Manchester Street to speak to Drew who allegedly admitted to be at the complex and seeing his ex. He reportedly stated that he thought he was about 125 feet of her. Drew reportedly told the officer that when he saw his ex, he went back to his friend’s apartment. The officer alleged that the friend’s apartment was also less than 300 feet of her the victim’s apartment, according to the report.

Drew was arrested and brought to headquarters. According to the affidavit, he waived his Miranda rights and allegedly admitted to stealing the coffeemaker, a picture, and a glass skull. He reportedly denied using force to get into the apartment and said the door was partially open when he got there.

The reporting officer also noted that Drew had an active bench warrant for non-payment of attorney’s fees, $302.50 cash to settle, and he was held.
