Man Rescued From Merrimack River In Hooksett

A man, walking on the Main Street bridge, accidentally fell into the river and was found near a support column on Thursday.

HOOKSETT, NH — A man who accidentally fell into the Merrimack River was rescued on Thursday.

Around 11:30 p.m., Hooksett police and firefighters were sent to the Main Street bridge for a report of a man who fell into the river. First responders were able to find the man, 31, under the walking bridge near a support column, according to Sgt. Mike Zappala of the Hooksett Police Department.

“Hooksett fire launched their rescue boat and reached the male without issue,” he said. “The male sustained only cuts and bruises from his fall and was transported by boat to Lamberts Park, where he was further evaluated before refusing transport to a local hospital.”

Police spoke with witnesses and the man and determined the fall was accidental.
