Concord and Boscawen firefighters as well as police and later, the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol, were all called to the river at about 6 p.m. on June 24, 2015, attempting to find a 10-year-old boy who was swimming in Boscawen while his parents were on the shore watching him. After the boy was caught up in the currents, the father entered the water in attempt to save the boy but also began struggling with the currents, according to officials. After watching them both get caught up in the brisk flow of the river, the boy’s mother called 911.
Boscawen, Penacook Rescue, and Concord Fire and Rescue teams and police officers put boats into the river and walked along different points along the shoreline attempting to find the man and child. The search was suspended at just before 8:30 p.m. last night.
Marine Patrol and New Hampshire Fish & Game resumed recovery efforts this morning around 8 a.m. around the Hannah Dustin Park and Ride below the Route 3 and Route 4 bridge.
