New Hampshire Lottery Commission officials announced that the Mega Millions jackpot for tonight has risen to $640 million. According to officials, ticket sales boosted the lottery prize up $100 million in 24-hours.
If there is a single winner, the one-time cash payout would be $462 million, the largest ever in world history, according to officials.
“The new estimated jackpot is beyond insane!” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Lottery, in a statement. “This has truly been a spectacular event in lottery history as we have watched the jackpot blast through the $400 million mark, roll to $500 million, soar to $540 million and then hit an unbelievable $640 million the day of the drawing! It’s in thanks to all the stores around the state for their hard work in servicing customer demand for Mega Millions tickets. And it’s thanks to all the lottery players in the Granite State for their support of the NH Lottery!”
