CONCORD, NH — A Merrimack woman was arrested Saturday accused of wrong-way drunken driving and reckless conduct.

Around 3:15 a.m., New Hampshire State Police received a report of a vehicle driving north in the southbound side of Interstate 93 outside of Concord.

The first arriving trooper observed the vehicle driving "at an estimated speed of over 90 mph," according to Sgt. Vincent Grieco of Troop D. The trooper was able to intercept the vehicle in Northfield by deploying stop sticks — which slowly decreased the speed of the vehicle. The trooper, Grieco said, "was then able to parallel the vehicle along Interstate until reaching a cross-over where he was able to again intercept the vehicle and bring it to a complete stop."

The driver, Hillary Marquardt, 33, of Merrimack, was "discovered to be operating her vehicle while under the influence," Grieco said, and was taken into custody. Later, state police found out she had been arrested for drunken driving previously. Marquardt was charged with driving under the influence-subsequent and reckless conduct. She is due back in Merrimack County Superior Court at a later date.
