New Hampshire Communities To Receive HUD Grants For Housing

CONCORD, NH — More than $7 million in U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grants are coming to New Hampshire as part of the federal government's Housing Continuums of Care Grant program. The grants will go to fund 54 different community projects which officials say will be used to increase permanent and supportive housing for homeless individuals and families, while also promoting self-sufficiency.

Some of the organizations that will receive the funds include $182,364 for BMCAP RRH Program Belknap-Merrimack Community Action; $993,125 for Center for Life Management of Derry and Salem shelters and family housing; $251,355 for the Coordinated Entry DV Project; $386,681 for CRH/CCEH Permanent Supportive Housing Expansion; $394,158 for Families In Transition permanent and leasing housing programs in Concord and Dover; $104,545 for McGrath Street Permanent Housing of Laconia; $258,672 for the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence; and $44,454 for the Summer Street Project in Exeter.

Gov. Chris Sununu announced the $7.7 million in grants Tuesday.

"My administration has made it a priority to address New Hampshire’s housing shortage," he said. "Our efforts take a significant step forward today with the announcement of (the funding). I look forward to working together with HUD, local officials, community organizations and providers to expand housing options and reduce the housing shortage in New Hampshire."
