CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is asking for the public’s help finding a convicted felon who is wanted on probation violation after being convicted of second-degree assault.

Michael William Ryan Jr., 48, is white, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighs around 160 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair. According to investigators, Ryan has tattoos on his chest and abdomen but no known aliases. Warrants for his arrest were issued on Nov. 21, 2024, for violation of probation, and Dec. 4, Dec. 17, 2024, and Jan. 8, for nonappearance in Keene Circuit Court.

Ryan was on probation after being convicted in May 2021 on four domestic violence-related charges, including second-degree assault-strangulation. He was accused of a probation violation in September 2024 and was involved in another domestic violence incident, investigators said.

“In November 2024, while Ryan was out on bail with an electronic ankle monitor, he had the monitor removed to undergo a medical procedure,” an alert stated. “Ryan failed to return to the jail to have the electronic monitoring put back on (and) was considered to have absconded at that time and his current whereabouts are unknown.”

Ryan is “known to flee from police” and “should be considered dangerous,” investigators stated. He has ties to communities in southwestern New Hampshire and Tyngsborough, Massachusetts.

In May 2021, Ryan pleaded guilty to an acts prohibited, criminal trespass, and deal-possess prescription drugs in Cheshire County after an incident in Keene from May 2019. He received a 12-month sentence, with 127 days of time served, and a $434 fine, all suspended for two years, as well as two six-month sentences.
