CONCORD, NH — Three people were sent to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Andover on Wednesday.

Andover police were sent to a crash around 3:45 p.m. between the vehicles on Route 11 near Plains Road. New Hampshire State Police were requested and sent its Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Unit to investigate the accident, Amber Lagace, a spokeswoman for the department, said.

“The investigation … revealed that a vehicle headed westbound, crossed the double yellow centerline, and crashed head-on into another vehicle headed eastbound,” she said.

Both vehicles became engulfed in flames. A Good Samaritan began pulling occupants from the vehicles while others were able to escape from the vehicles, too.

Two people were med-flighted to a hospital while another was taken by ambulance to the hospital by Andover firefighters, Lagace said. The roadway was shut down in both directions for several hours during the investigation, extinguishing, and debris removed. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation also assisted with road closures and clean up.
