NH AG Reaches Settlement with Easter Seals NH

Non-profit agrees to pay $30K in investigation costs to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for not maintaining adequate records.

Attorney General Joseph A. Foster announced on May 29, 2015, that the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) of the Department of Justice has reached a settlement with Easter Seals New Hampshire to resolve allegations that Easter Seals submitted claims to the Medicaid program for disability services between February 2013 and April 2013 without maintaining adequate records to support the claims, according to a press statement.

Under the terms of the agreement, Easter Seals agreed to pay a total sum of $30,216.38 in restitution and investigative costs. Easter Seals fully cooperated with the investigation, according to Karin M. Eckel, assistant Attorney General and director of Medicaid Fraud.

The Medicaid program is a joint federal and state healthcare program which provides benefits to qualified individuals. The MFCU investigates and prosecutes both civil and criminal healthcare provider fraud, with the goal of protecting the integrity of the Medicaid program.
