CONCORD, NH — Investigators with the New Hampshire Department of Corrections are asking for assistance finding a parolee wanted on parole violations who was also accused of having “violent tendencies.”

Michael George Dewhurst is 47, is about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, and weighs 225 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes. Dewhurst goes by the nickname “Ponytail Mike” and sometimes uses the alias “Mike Dewhurst,” investigators said. He is wanted for parole violations after being convicted of reckless conduct and accused of absconding from supervision. He has other arrests and convictions, investigators said.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on May 18. The alert for his fugitive status also came with the violent tendencies warning.

“Dewhurst was last known residing in Laconia, prior to absconding, and has been seen in Manchester,” the alert stated. “Dewhurst’s social media activity indicates he is from Saugus, Massachusetts, and that he resides in Manchester. Photos on social media show Dewhurst to have a brown/gray beard and mustache with his brown hair pulled back in a small ponytail.”

Dewhurst was known to wear the ponytail frequently, hence the nickname, as well as a hoop earring in his left ear. He also has “a clear bump” on the corner of his left eyebrow.

According to superior court records, Dewhurst was charged with felony reckless conduct-deadly weapon, disobeying an officer, and resisting arrest or detention charges, as well as a misuse-failure to display plates violation in September 2015 in Nashua. At the time, he was living in Lynnfield, MA, and was involved in a pursuit in the Bay State that spilled over into New Hampshire.

Dewhurst pleaded guilty to the felony, disobeying, and resisting charges in March 2018. His sentence was amended in August 2019 — with the sentencing commencing upon release from a Massachusetts prison.

In August 2022, Dewhurst was accused of felony theft in Farmington. He pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 4. Dewhurst had a hearing on a deferred sentence on April 5. The superior court records stated the case was still “pending.”
