BOW, NH — A capital region man was arrested and held on preventative detention this week after a multi-month investigation into a case based in Bow.

According to police, a detective, working with the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, received a cyber tip about content shared via Kik messenger that was flagged by the company on Sept. 8, 2020. The content in question was 20 files of images the detective determined to be child sexual abuse material, according to an affidavit. Investigators received the tip on Oct. 23, 2020.

The detective used a Homeland Security Investigations Customs summons to investigate the Internet Protocol address connected to the email used with the Kik account which led to an address on Jonathan Lane in Bow. The detective noted the address led to a suspect with "previous law enforcement contacts," Adam Saari, 37, of Bow. The detective requested a search warrant of Saari, his home, and other items with a task force deputy.

"At this time, Adam turned over his cellphone," a lieutenant wrote. "During the conversation, Adam told (the) deputy that he is going to be arrested. (The) deputy asked Adam why he said that and Adam replies that he assumes this has to do with that thing on Kik."

Saari was questioned more about his interaction on Kik, according to the affidavit. The report alleged he told the detective a woman had sent him some pictures which he had not deleted. The affidavit stated, after questioning, Saari admitted to being in possession of the illegal pictures.

Along with a cellphone, police seized a laptop and external hard drive.

The detective accused Saari of being in possession of six videos on his cellphone. A task force detective examined the external hard drive and found Saari's tax returns at least two videos, according to an affidavit. Another two videos were found on the laptop, the report stated.

Saari was arrested Tuesday on 10 counts of possession of child sex abuse images and three counts of distribution of child sex images, all felonies. He was arraigned on Wednesday and was held. Saari is due back in Merrimack County Superior Court on May 10 for a dispositional conference hearing.
