NH Man, With Many Court Cases, Wanted On Bail Violation: Marshals

A warrant for the arrest of Shawn Michael Hartford was issued three weeks ago and U.S. Marshals are asking for help finding him.

CONCORD, NH — The U.S. Marshals-New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is asking for the public’s help finding a convicted felon who is wanted on a bail violation.

Shawn Michael Hartford is 36, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighs around 170 pounds. He has blonde hair and hazel eyes. Hartford, according to Brandon Wilson, a deputy marshal, has tattoos on his right shoulder, left shoulder, right arm, and right leg.

According to this week’s fugitive of the week alert, Hartford is originally from the Bay State and the warrant for his arrest was issued on July 6.

“Hartford is being sought on an arrest warrant issued by the Strafford Superior Court for a bail violation,” Wilson said. “Hartford was released on bail with a pending criminal case for possession of methamphetamine and heroin. Hartford has known ties to the Tri-City Area of New Hampshire as well as Massachusetts.”

According to superior court records, Hartford has had about 20 active or resolved cases during the past 15 months that include dozens of charges.

Hartford has an active receiving stolen property charge, a felony due to prior convictions, out of Lee from September 2020. He also has an active felony escape charge out of Somersworth from September 2020. Felony burglary, credit card fraud, attempted theft and theft charges, all out of Somersworth from April 2020, as well as theft, receiving stolen property, and burglary charges from Rochester, were all moved over to drug court.

Hartford also pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge out of Rochester after being charged with that and driving after revocation or suspension-subsequent on April 20, 2020, as well as burglary, stolen firearm, criminal trespass, contempt, and resisting arrest or detention charges in September 2020 after an incident in Farmington in April 2020. At the same time, Hartford had a case out of Wakefield that was closed in June 2020.

Limited information is available about the methamphetamine possession, drug possession, felony receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, and two loitering or prowling charges out of Somersworth from April 2020.
