NH State Police Beef Up Security at Statehouse
Incident in Boston, weekend threat prompt changes; explosive disposal unit does sweep of the area but finds nothing.

The New Hampshire State Police are increasing security and its presence “in and around” the Statehouse “as a precautionary measure,” according to officials.
The increased security will be at the Statehouse and surrounding buildings. It is coming in the wake of the tragic bombings in Boston at the Marathon that have killed at least three and injured many others as well as a threat of violence that was reported to police on April 13. That threat came in during Saturday afternoon about two hours into a rally that was going on outside the Statehouse. A few hours after the threat, the building was reported to be cleared and safe.
“The threat that was received over the weekend is being investigated and there is no reason to believe that it is connected to the incident in Boston,” Major Russell Conte said in a statement.

The state police did not offer specific comment on the nature of the threat at the Statehouse last weekend.
