New Hampshire State Police Investigating PVC Pipe Bomb Explosion In Salisbury

The department's bomb squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms are investigating an explosion Thursday on Hensmith Road.

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police are investigating a homemade pipe bomb explosion on Thursday in Salisbury.

Firefighters were sent to Hensmith Road in Salisbury for a report of an explosion that caused a brush fire. A caller reportedly needed assistance putting out the fire. The explosion, capital region dispatch said, was a homemade PVC pipe bomb.

Arriving Salisbury firefighters reported a 100- by 100-foot brush fire and requested a second tanker. Later, a commander called off the second tanker since the firefighters and residents extinguished the brush fire.

Troopers, the department’s bomb squad, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms processed the scene while troopers began canvassing the town, attempting to locate witnesses or home surveillance footage of possible suspicious vehicles or suspects. Bomb fragments and remnants of a device were found.

“At this time,” Amber Lagace, a public information officer for the department, said, “the New Hampshire State Police are asking residents of the area to check and review home video and security systems to locate suspicious vehicles in the area, activity or visuals of the explosion. The explosion occurred at approximately 1:36 p.m.”

Beyond the brush fire area, there was no property damage or injuries due to the explosion.
