NH Students Win Film Festival Awards
Bedford High kids take top prize; Pinkerton, Nashua Tech, and ConVal students also win awards after two-hour showcase in Concord last week.

CONCORD, NH - The New Hampshire Film and Television Office this morning announced its winners of the 2016 New Hampshire High School Short Film Festival, held last week in Concord.
The festival, which is in its ninth year, "is a springboard for students wishing to have their films seen before the public at a professional venue," according to Shelly Angers of the NH Department of Cultural Resources.
Twenty-seven films, representing a variety of film genres – including animation, comedy, experimental film, documentary and drama – were selected from 60 submitted by students from 16 New Hampshire high schools to create a two-hour showcase.

This year’s winners are:
- Jury Award (Best in Show): “Answer” by John Morin, Grant Mangan, Nicola DiTomaso and Lubomir Rzepka of Bedford High School
- Jury Award (Runner up): “Sketchy” by Taylor-Rae Lancaster, Lilia Ross and Sarah Ropple of Pinkerton Academy

- “Slick” by Grant Mangan and Johnathon Gabert of Bedford High School
- “Primary Colors” by Troy Lustick and Dino Mitchell of the Nashua Technology Center
- “I’m with the Band” by Olivia Mullins of ConVal Regional High School
The Public Service Announcement Award went to “Wash Your Hands PSA” by Rosie Parrish of Nashua Technology Center.
The festival's collection of films will be shown at theatres around New Hampshire later this year.
Technology prize packages, according to Angers, included more than $22,000 worth of items sponsored by Apple, Adobe, Atomos, Benro, Bérubé Pictures, Blackmagic Design, Boris FX/Imagineer Systems, Hunt's Photo and Video, Ikan, iZotope, and Other World Computing. The prizes were awarded to the winning filmmakers, as well as the representing school of the Jury Award.
