Northwood Man Busted for DWI, Crack

Concord Police: Not using directional, crossing over fog line leads to charges.

A local man is facing driving and drug charges after a traffic stop at the interchange with Exit 13 on I-93.

Vincente Perez, 52, of Northwood, was arrested at 12:57 a.m. on March 7, and charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated and two counts possession of controlled drugs, one a felony.

According to Concord Police arrest report and court affidavit, an officer saw a red Ford Explorer driving south on Water Street toward I-93. The car crossed over the white fog line and then initiated a turn onto I-93 South without using a directional signal, according to the officer.

The officer pulled the truck over and alleged that the driver, Perez, smelled like alcohol.

Perez agreed to a field sobriety test and allegedly “struggled with handling his property in that he fumbled papers and dropped a lighter.” He was later arrested.

Another officer performed an inventory of the truck while waiting for a tow truck and allegedly found four small rocks of crack cocaine in an empty cigarette pack that had been in Perez’s pocket. A glass tube – a crack pipe – was also allegedly found in the package. Also allegedly found in the vehicle was a Chore Boy scrub brush that, according to officers, is often used as a filter for smoking crack.

The crack was tested at the police station and allegedly tested positive.

Perez refused bail and was arraigned later that morning.

According to online reports, Perez was previously arrested in December 2012, in connection with an incident where power tools from a construction site in Rye were stolen. He was charged with theft, conspiracy to commit theft and criminal mischief.
