NWS Issues Winter Storm, Hazardous Weather Warnings for the Granite State
Breaking: Storm timeline, up to 10 inches of snow expected to hit parts of central, southern New Hampshire, the heaviest will occur tonight.

GRAY, ME — The National Weather Service has issued both a “winter storm warning” and a “hazardous weather outlook” for the state of New Hampshire. As much as 10 inches of snow is expected to hit the state, according to the alerts.
The storm warning is in effect from 5 p.m. on Tuesday to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, according to the NWS.

“(The) low pressure passes south of the area tonight and Wednesday and will provide snow to New Hampshire and western Maine late today into Wednesday,” the storm warning alert stated. “Areas in the warning could see brief bursts of heavy snow tonight. The coast south of Portland and in Rockingham and eastern Hillsborough counties in New Hampshire could see some rain mixing in … especially late tonight into Wednesday.”
Sleet is also expected to be mixed in, especially along the New Hampshire-Massachusetts border.

On Wednesday afternoon, the snow is expected to taper off and change to showers with drizzle possible along the coast, where temps will be just above freezing.
The NWS is reporting that the storm could bring up to 8 inches of snow to locations; AccuWeather.com is predicting that the highest snow totals will be between 6 to 10 inches in parts of the state.
Timeline
The storm is expected to start in Concord, western Hillsborough County communities like Amherst, Bedford, Merrimack, Milford, and Nashua, around or before 5 p.m. this afternoon. It is then expected to hit in Salem, Windham, and Londonderry, as well as Exeter, Portsmouth, Hampton, and North Hampton, sometime between 7 and 11 p.m.
The storm should be completed by 11 a.m. or noon on Wednesday in the western part of the state and before 5 p.m. in the eastern part of the state. A few flurries could return to the state on Wednesday evening, according to forecasters.
The NWS posted video of the storm heading into the region about an hour ago.
AccuWeather.com is also warning of travel complications through Wednesday including difficulties for the morning commute tomorrow.
