CONCORD, NH — A motorcyclist from New York was killed in a crash on Interstate 93 on June 15.
Around 4:45 p.m., state police were sent to the southbound side of the highway near Mile Marker 87 in Campton. When troopers arrived, they found three bikes on the ground and three people injured, Tyler Dumont, a public information officer with the state police, said.
“According to witnesses and evidence obtained at the scene, a gust of wind caused one of the motorcyclists to go off the paved portion of the road onto gravel before returning to the road and losing control,” he said. “As the motorcycle crashed onto its side, the other two motorcyclists attempted evasive maneuvers to the right and laid down their motorcycles to avoid a collision.”

During the investigation and cleanup, the highway was down to one late for around three hours. Campton police and firefighters and EMTs from Campton-Thornton, Waterville Valley, and Plymouth assisted troopers.

Candia Man Rolls Jeep On Route 101
A man from Candia was injured on Route 101 during an early morning crash in Raymond.
Around 3:30 a.m., state police were sent to the eastbound side of the highway for a report of a vehicle off the road. When they arrived, they found a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee several hundred feet off the highway into a wooded area near the Exit 5 offramp. Troopers were able to get to the vehicle and found Alex J. Sitton, 34, of Candia, with serious injuries and partially thrown from the vehicle, Dumont said.
“Troopers rendered aid until emergency medical services arrived and began assessing and treating the driver of the Jeep,” he said. “Troopers and firefighters also then conducted an extensive search of the area to confirm that no other passengers were present in the Jeep at the time of the crash.”
The investigation led to troopers suspecting Sitton lost control of the vehicle while on the offramp for an unknown reason. The driver struck several trees before overturning and stopping on its roof.
Sitton was taken to an area hospital.
The offramp was closed for around four and a half hours. State police were assisted by Raymond police, Epping and Raymond firefighters, paramedics with Exeter Hospital’s ALS Unit, NH DOT, and the New England Truck Center.
Anyone with information regarding the crash that may assist the investigation was asked to contact Trooper Clark Brighton at clark.a.brighton@dos.nh.gov.
