Officials Seek Assistance With Missing Concord Teen Cold Case
Investigators are asking to speak with anyone who had contact with Janis Taylor between December 1967 and her disappearance in January 1968.
CONCORD, NH — Investigators in the state’s cold case unit as well as Concord police are asking to speak to anyone who may have had contact with a teenager who went missing in the late 1960s.
Janis Taylor, 15, disappeared on Jan. 8, 1968. At the time, she was around 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighed around 110 pounds, and had long brown hair. Taylor would be 69 today.
Investigators are specifically looking to speak with anyone who had contact with Taylor between December 1967 and when she disappeared.

Before she disappeared, Taylor was living at various addresses in the city including 176 N. State St., 89 School St., and the Alosa Trailer Park on Manchester Street. She was a sophomore at Concord High School when she went missing.

Taylor has eight siblings, grew up in Warner, and was also enrolled at Manchester Central High School. She enjoyed 4-H activities and rode horses. Taylor, investigators said, was also associated with people who worked at Rumford Press in Concord. At the time, Rumford Press was located in the Concord Center building on Ferry Street.

Her disappearance, according to officials, is considered suspicious although she is not officially listed on the state’s cold case victim’s unit list. Taylor was listed on the national database as early as 2019.
Several online commenters noted a number of young girls disappeared from New Hampshire during a period of months and years at the time Taylor disappeared.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) are also assisting with this investigation. NamUs and NCMEC provide national resources and databases to help locate missing persons, officials said.
