One Down, One To Go: NH DOC

Breaking: Nashua Police have captured Clifford Gagnon, an alleged halfway house walkaway. Sex offender Gordon Apostolas is still at-large.

CONCORD, NH — A minimum security inmate from a halfway house who allegedly failed to return to the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester last week has been captured. Clifford Gagnon, 29, was arrested during the evening of Sept. 27, 2017, by Nashua Police, according to the New Hampshire Department of Corrections. Gagnon was transported to the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord where he is being held.

Gagnon was placed on walkaway status on Sept. 22, after allegedly failing to return to the Calumet after leaving his place of employment, according to officials. Gordon Apostolas, 54, pictured left, is still on escape status after also allegedly failing to return to his housing unit last week. Apostolas – a registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal history – was admitted to prison in January on duty to report charges and was eligible for parole next year.

Back in 1991, he was convicted of attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault in Maine. Since that time, he has been convicted of duty to report four times. Apostolas has also been convicted of assault numerous times as well as threatening, robbery, theft, escape, resisting, and controlled drug; acts prohibited.

The New Hampshire State Police and the New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau is investigating both men and are asking anyone with information to call local law enforcement agency or the New Hampshire State Prison at 603-271-1801.
