According to a police report, officers were called to the South Main Street Dunkin’ Donuts near the Bow line for a report of an unconscious man in the parking lot.

The man was inside a BMW 328i with Connecticut plates with all four windows down and music playing loudly. One of the officers noted that the interior of the vehicle was “cluttered.” The officers attempted to wake up the man numerous times, shouting at him, and eventually, he woke up, “appeared to be extremely confused,” and spoke with officers.

“The male appeared very confused and stared at us with a blank stare,” one of the officers alleged.

The man, Gilmore, reportedly told them that he stopped for food and was extremely tired since he worked third shift.

“I told Gilmore that I was concerned for his well-being and explained to him that it was not normal for people to fall asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle,” the officer alleged. “I asked Gilmore if he would be willing to step out of the vehicle to speak with me and consent to some field sobriety test to make sure he was okay to drive. Gilmore consented and exited the vehicle.”

When he exited the vehicle, one of the officers allegedly observed a one-hitter marijuana smoking device that he allegedly attempted to conceal in his pocket. He allegedly later removed it from his pocket and put it on the roof of the vehicle. The pipe was allegedly freshly packed, according to the report.

Dispatch reported that the BMW was not registered to Gilmore. He allegedly stated it was a buddy’s vehicle and he was just borrowing it but police were unable to contact the buddy.

Gilmore was arrested and the vehicle was towed from the parking lot of the Dunkin’ Donuts.

During an inventory search, police allegedly found a bag of marijuana and a folded up piece of paper containing 15 Alprazolam pills, and more charges were added to his docket. Gilmore is due in court on Nov. 2.
