• South End Shooter Escapes Felony Firearm, First-Degree Assault Convictions, Receives Suspended Sentences (patch.com) — Residents of Concord's South End are learning more about February's South State Street shooting, where a man was shot in the leg during an apartment dispute and later treated by Concord fire and rescue teams. The shooter, originally facing serious felony firearm and first-degree assault charges, has now pleaded guilty to reduced misdemeanors and received largely suspended 12‑month sentences, with a restitution hearing set for October.

• Concord Police Back At Homelessness Coalition Apartment Building, Executing A Search Warrant (patch.com) — Concord residents saw a strong police presence Monday at the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness apartments on South State Street, where detectives executed a search warrant for undisclosed reasons. Officers, including a K-9 unit on standby, spent about 90 minutes inside the building, which has drawn repeated police responses and was the site of a significant drug bust in May that led to multiple ongoing court cases.

Superior prices; and many of the employees have been there for decades (true indicator of an employee-friendly business) (Nextdoor Concord) - I was at MB yesterday and while at the 20 or less register, I happened to look up and see the prices on cigarettes!
Holy moly- how can anyone smoke? A carton of Marlboro cigarettes in the gold and white package were $104.99 a carton! Lower tiers were $85.00 and up… (Nextdoor Concord)
