Pedestrian Killed On Route 106 In Loudon: Video

Loudon and Chichester firefighters, as well as the police, were sent to the road near Cascade Campground for a fatal crash late Thursday.

LOUDON, NH — A pedestrian was killed on the southbound side of Route 106 late Thursday night.

At just before midnight, the Capital Area Mutual Aid Fire Compact began receiving “multiple 911 calls” about a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of the Cascade Campground in Loudon. Dispatch made an initial call and then a second call for Loudon fire and rescue teams to respond. At the same time, Chichester firefighters were requested for mutual aid to cover the town during the event investigation.

A few minutes later, dispatch said the callers believed the pedestrian was killed during the incident.

When Loudon and Chichester firefighters arrived, they confirmed the pedestrian was dead, according to scanner chatter. The roadway was closed from Staniels Road to Chichester Road around 12:15 a.m.

“We’ll be tied up here for a little bit,” the fire commander told dispatch.

Loudon police requested Concord and Chichester police to re-route vehicles around the closed highway area. Chichester firefighters also returned to cover Loudon’s stationhouse.

Around 12:30 a.m., the state’s medical examiner was requested to the scene and the county attorney was called, too.

Loudon Utility returned to service around 1 a.m.
