Pembroke Mom Gets 2 Years In Prison For Robberies
Elizabeth Santos was sentenced in court yesterday after purse snatching incidents last year in Londonderry and Manchester.
MANCHESTER, NH — A New Hampshire woman was sent to prison for two to five years after a slew of purse snatchings and robberies in the southern part of the state, according to WMUR-TV. Elizabeth Santos, 30, a mother of three with a last known address of Pembroke, was sentenced on Jan. 16, 2018, on 10 charges after robbing six people across four days in June 2017. In one of the incidents, a robbery victim – who was eating lunch with her children at Wendy’s in Manchester – chased Santos after she stole her purse. Santos fled from the scene in an SUV as the victim was attempting to grab her purse from an open window of the SUV. She sustained injuries as a result of the incident.
A couple of days before, Santos was also caught on camera stealing a purse from the La Carreta Mexican Restaurant in Londonderry. Police were able to piece together the cases after the Londonderry Police shared video of the theft on Facebook, the New Hampshire Union Leader noted last year.
During her court testimony, Santos stated that she had struggled with addiction most of her life although she said that was no excuse for her behavior and apologized. Numerous victims also gave impact statements.
