Penacook, Nashua, Milford Schools Are Finalists In STEM Competition
Merrimack Valley, Nashua South, Academy for Science and Design, Milford high schools win Samsung technology prize packs; compete for others.
CONCORD, NH — Five New Hampshire schools have won technology prize packs and are competing with hundreds of other schools for more prizes for their school while solving real-world problems in their communities.
Gorham High School, Milford High School, the Academy for Science and Design in Nashua, Nashua South High School, and Merrimack Valley High School in Penacook are all involved in the competition, along with 300 other schools. Each school has won a $2,500 technology prize pack for their school and is now competing for part of a $2 million-plus prize pool in April.
Three national winners will receive around $100,000.

“Solve for Tomorrow has long embodied Samsung’s strategy, purpose, and values,” Salman Taufiq, the director of corporate marketing for Samsung Electronics America, said. “From our roots as a small television manufacturer in the 1960s to becoming a global technology leader, STEM has been part of our DNA. As we celebrate 15 years of Solve for Tomorrow, we are proud to continue our commitment to ensuring America’s students stay engaged in STEM education and pursue careers in this field.”
Taufiq said the state finalist teams focused on “technology for good, like their quick adoption of AI to power wide-ranging solutions that address not only pressing challenges in their communities but also global issues.” The students are working at solving “common student concerns nationwide,” including climate, mental health and wellness, and school safety.

According to the competition, the next phase focused on student executing their projects to make positive community impacts. Fifty state winners will be revealed in March and will win $12,000 worth of technology. Sustainability Innovation and Rising Entrepreneurship awards will lead to one of the 50 state winners receiving $25,000 for each prize package. There will be 10 finalists nationally receiving $50,000 in technology and school supplies as well as other awards leading to the three national winners, according to the company.
