Police Believe Teen Was Texting Before Deadly 2012 Clinton Street Crash

Concord Police have arrested Jacob Veroneau on falsifying physical evidence, a felony charge.

A local teen has been charged with a felony in connection with a tragic accident last year that took the lives of a Concord man and a girl from Manchester.

Jacob Veroneau, 17, of Concord, was arrested on April 1, and charged with falsifying physical evidence, a felony.

According to a Concord Police Department press release, Veroneau was arrested after “a lengthy investigation” into a car crash on Oct. 19, 2012, on Clinton Street near Iron Works Road. That crash took the lives of Jesse Wolfe, 31, of Concord, and Kyara Mailhot, 7, of Manchester. Wolf died at the scene while Mailhot passed away two weeks later. A woman also sustained injuries in the crash.

Veroneau, according to police, was the operator of the second vehicle. He was reportedly traveling east in an SUV at the time of the accident, according to Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the head of the department's criminal investigations unit. Police allege that Veroneau deleted text messages from his phone sometime after the accident after detectives “made inquiries into his texting activity just prior to the accident," according to the release.

Veroneau turned himself into police and was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail. He will be arraigned on May 6.
