Police Presence Increased At Concord School Due To ‘Armed Threat’
Update: Investigators are speaking to Rundlett Middle School students after a Facebook threat was posted referencing an incident Tuesday.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating a threat against Rundlett Middle School on Sunday that was posted on Facebook.
Limited information is being released due to it being an active investigation. However, Kathleen Murphy, the superintendent of schools, notified parents the comment was an “armed threat” against the school, referencing an incident at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Patch has learned the threat was made on the social media site during a conversation among students.

After hearing of the threat incident, Murphy placed Rundlett into “secure campus” mode — essentially, sealing the school from the public and keeping students in their classrooms. At the same time, police are investigating the incident and speaking with some students involved in the conversation. While there’s no threat now, Murphy said, “it’s more of a precaution while the police do their investigation.”
Murphy, who was at the school immediately after learning of the threat, called it “deeply concerning.” She added, “We care for the safety of every single one of our students and staff.”

Murphy said the threat created “a great deal of anxiety,” and “that’s to be expected.” She requested expanded police presence at the school for Tuesday.
“I’m trying to make sure we cover all our bases,” Murphy said. “We recognize that social media has its merits. But it also has opportunities for students to make poor choices and poor decisions.”
At post time, buses in SAU 8 were taking elementary and high school students home. Rundlett students will be dismissed at their normal time, around 3:30 p.m.
Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department confirmed the incident was still being investigated.
"We will be increasing patrols and officer presence," he said.
A message has been left for Concord police about this investigation.
Concord NH Patch will update this post when more information becomes available.
