RD Custom Fitness Announces FLEX Senior Exercise Classes

Registration for July "Cardio & Strength" Class Now Open; Most Medicare Insurance Plans Cover Cost

Rhonda Duhamel of RD Custom Fitness announces that RDCF will offer the first FLEX Class in Central New Hampshire at Creative Dance Workshop, 1125 Rt 3A in Bow, beginning July 6. The 45-minute class will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10am, with additional times possible to meet demand.

FLEX is part of Healthways’ Silver Sneakers program, designed for older adults who need more flexibility, ease of access, and a different customer experience than a gym might offer. Ms. Duhamel, a certified Silver Sneakers and FLEX instructor, has been leading fitness and exercise classes for seniors in the Concord area for the past 8 years.

The new class, “Cardio & Strength,” combines a variety of exercises to help increase cardio endurance while strengthening muscle. The workout is tailored to the abilities and interests of the participants, to ensure that everyone derives maximum benefit from the class.

RDCF’s FLEX programs are priced lower than most gym venues, because instructors are free to set up their own classes and determine their own fees. Members without an insurance benefit to cover the cost will pay a flat $20 per calendar month for three classes per week. This makes RDCF’s FLEX classes among the least expensive exercise classes for seniors in New Hampshire.

However, FLEX is available at little or no cost to more than 9 million eligible members of participating Medicare health plans nationwide. Other insurance plans may also reimburse the cost of classes in part or in whole. Insurance plans change their benefits every year, and it is worth checking to find out if yours will support your participation in FLEX classes. You can find out by:
- Going to silversneakers.com and using the tools on that page to determine if you have Medicare insurance that will cover your fees;
- Calling your insurance company (usually Member Services phone numbers are on the back of our Insurance ID card) and asking whether your plan has benefits related to exercise programs, and how they work;
- Writing or calling RDCF for help finding out if insurance will pay the cost of your enrollment in these classes.
