Rep. Annie Kuster Visits Camp Spaulding

On Monday, June 29, from 10-11am Camp Spaulding in Penacook will host a visit from Rep. Annie Kuster to showcase the partnership between two local YMCAs and Child and Family Services of New Hampshire. This visit is a kick-off to a “summer fun” celebration highlighting the opportunities and experiences that Camp Spaulding affords kids who are enrolled in its summer camp programs.

A collaboration of Concord Family YMCA, The Greater Nashua YMCA, and Child and Family Services (CFS), Camp Spaulding serves both overnight as well as day campers from all walks of life. Campers have the opportunity to unplug, experience a change from everyday life and learn new skills, exploring nature, making new friends, working in a team and gaining self-confidence.

While children benefit year-round from YMCA programs, never is it more critical than during the summer months, when they are at greatest risk of facing gaps and falling behind. Camp Spaulding staff are committed to helping kids in our community “hop the gaps” to reduce the risk of summer learning loss. As part of the camp curriculum, the camp offers Hop the Gap programming designed to nurture social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.

Rep. Kuster has long been a supporter of initiatives that focus on the well-being of families. Up to four generations of her family have been involved with both the Y and CFS organizations. The visit on Monday will include remarks from Rep. Kuster, as well as the three partner organizations, followed by a presentation by Camp Spaulding campers, and ending with a tour of the camp buildings, activity centers and grounds.

The Concord Family YMCA is a community-based, charitable, nonprofit, social service agency devoted to serving the needs of all families and ages in the Concord area. The organization is a full-service YMCA with a main facility featuring a pool, gym, fitness, and more, and an adjacent 18,000-square-foot childcare facility.
