Road Rage Between Boyfriend And Girlfriend Led to I-393 Crash

Incident began on Main Street in Concord on Thursday. Infant among passengers.

A crash that snarled traffic on Interstate 393 during rush hour Thursday was the result of road rage between a boyfriend and a girlfriend, State Police said.

At 3:26 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of a motor vehicle rollover with ejection on I-393 east in Pembroke. The initial investigation revealed the accident was the result of a road rage incident between a boyfriend and girlfriend driving different vehicles that reportedly began on Main Street in Concord, according to a press release issued by State Police.

Police said Travis Vachon, 24, of Concord, was driving a 1995 Nissan Maxima when he threw something at a 2000 Toyota Echo driven by his girlfriend, Bianca Roy, 17, of Concord, cracking her windshield. Vachon then sped off.

Witnesses told police both vehicles entered onto I-393 east from North Main Street in Concord at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic. After passing Exit 3, Roy attempted to pass Vachon on a curve and lost control, causing her vehicle to strike a guardrail and roll over several times, hitting Vachon's car as it rolled.

Roy and a male passenger in her vehicle, who were not seatbelted, were ejected from the vehicle. They were taken to Concord Hospital for treatment with minor injuries, according to police. Neither Vachon nor the woman and infant passengers in his car were injured.
