Scholarship Offered to NH Students Who Have Faced Homelessness
The 2018 Hope Starts Here Scholarship application is now available.

MANCHESTER, NH – The NH Coalition to End Homelessness (NHCEH) has announced the release of its 2018 Hope Starts Here Scholarship application. The scholarship fund was established to award financial support to students currently living in NH who have experienced homelessness during their school career, have a desire to continue their education beyond high school, and have demonstrated academic achievement. The NHCEH anticipates awarding up to $2000 in educational scholarships in 2018, thanks in large part to the Bank of New Hampshire’s commitment to matching donations made to the scholarship fund. The scholarship can be used to help defray the costs of college or post-secondary vocational training program tuition, fees, books, prep courses, or other educational expenses. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2018.
“Youth who experience homelessness often face significant barriers to accessing higher education." said Dr. Cathy Kuhn, Director of NHCEH. "Our scholarship is intended to help remove some of those barriers and make post-secondary education a reality for these exceptional young people.”
A committee representing educators, policy makers, homeless providers, businesses, and other community members will review the applications and make recommendations to the NHCEH Board of Directors, who will make the final selection and notify the recipient(s) of the award.
