Second Earthquake Hits New Hampshire

2.1 magnitude quake hit around 6 a.m. this morning.

While all eyes and concerns are on the cleanup efforts in Nepal, if you felt a little rumbling in the western part of the state earlier today, you weren’t imagining things.

A 2.1 magnitude earthquake hit Warner this morning just east of Tom Pond off Exit 7 on I-89, according to the earthquake service, earthquaketrack.com.

The earthquake hit at 5:59 a.m. on April 30, 2015, eastern standard time, according to reports, and was reviewed by a seismologist after being reported to the service.

It’s the second quake to hit New Hampshire this week. A 2.3 magnitude quake hit Sanborton yesterday morning, according to NECN.

The region, surprisingly, has had a number of earthquake events in recent years. In October 2014, a 2.5 magnitude quake hit Contoocook just a few miles south of this morning’s rumbling. A year before that, a 1.7 quake hit East Side Drive in Concord.
