Security Grant Awarded to City of Concord

New security system installed at Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants.

Concord General Services applied for a grant through the State of New Hampshire’s Department of Safety’s Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) to improve the security of the City of Concord’s Water Treatment Plant and Hall Street Wastewater Treatment Plant. The HSGP is appropriated by the United States Department of Homeland Security to provide funding to government organizations in an effort to prevent and/or recover from any potential attacks or hazards that could take place. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security reviewed Concord General Services’ grant application for the installation of a video security system at both City of Concord facilities and approved the $12,500 grant as compliant of environmental and historical preservation in January 2015.

The CCTV monitoring systems were installed at the Hall Street Wastewater Treatment Plant in May 2015 and at the Water Treatment Plant in June 2015 with each facility including four security cameras, one digital video recorder, one LCD monitor, communication hubs, power supplies, and cables. These security upgrades have improved safety at both plants and have increased awareness to the staff at these facilities.

Maintaining continuous operation and protection of important municipal utilities, such as water and wastewater treatment, is critical to the community. Concord General Services will continue their effort to secure grants and maintain Concord’s municipal facilities.
