'Sexual Activity' Report Near Concord Park Leads To Drug Charge
A man was arrested on drug possession and resisting charges after a child reports seeing a couple screaming in the woods near Kimball Park.
CONCORD, NH — A Concord man was arrested on charges Friday after an incident between a couple, along a wooded path in the North End near a city park, was witnessed by a child.
At just after 4 p.m., officers were sent to the wooded path off Rumford and Penacook streets by the Boys & Girls Club for a report of an older man and a younger woman possibly having sex and screaming in the woods. Not knowing exactly what was witnessed or happening, dispatch quickly sent multiple officers to Rumford Street and the club parking lot near Kimball Park to investigate the incident.
When approaching the couple, the first responding officer reported to dispatch the man and woman were yelling at each other and then, the man, later identified as Robert Hobbs of Concord, attempted to flee the area. Officers were able to stop Hobbs and cuff him. One officer said he would be charged with resisting.

"I think he might have ditched a needle so be careful touching things in that area," the officer said.
"Yeah, I got everything now," another officer stated.
Hobbs was transported to police headquarters and officers cleared the scene around 5 p.m.
According to Robert Buelte, a watch commander for the Concord Police Department, the man and woman denied having sexual activity in the woods. Hobbs was charged with felony drug possession and resisting arrest or detention. The woman was not charged, he said.
