Sexual Assaulter Walks Away From Halfway House: NH DOC
Breaking: Officials are searching for Michael Chiasson Jr. who allegedly ran away from an officer at the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit.

MANCHESTER, NH — New Hampshire State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating an inmate who walked away from the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit on July 7, 2017, according to the NH Department of Corrections. Michael Chiasson Jr., 41, formerly of Concord, allegedly ran away from the facility after a corrections officer confiscated unauthorized property he had in his possession, according to Jeffrey Lyons, the public information officer for the NH DOC. Chiasson is white, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighs round 172 lbs.

He has brown hair and eyes. Chiasson was convicted of felonious sexual assault in Merrimack County Superior Court and was sentenced to between four and 20 years in prison, with 136 days served. Previously, according to Lyons, he served between three to six years for theft in Cheshire County.

Chiasson was admitted to the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in June 2013, and was eligible for parole in February of last year. His maximum release date is Aug. 22, 2017.
The New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau and the New Hampshire State Police are investigating. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the New Hampshire State Police or their local law enforcement agency.

Chiasson, according to his state criminal offenders page, previously racked up stolen property, protective order violation, burglary, theft, obstruction, and simple assault charges between 2006 and 2009.
