Silk Farm Road Fire Caused by Storage Issue

Concord Fire Chief: Combustibles were kept too close to a wood stove.

CONCORD, NH - Concord Fire Department officials have determined that an early morning fire on Saturday which destroyed a substantial portion of a home at 155 Silk Farm Road was caused by combustibles stored too close to a wood stove, according to a press statement by Chief Dan Andrus.

“The home’s lone occupant was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after being awakened by her dog,” Andrus noted. “ The dog very likely saved the woman’s life.”

Fire officials caution that combustibles be stored at least three feet from sources of ignition and that every sleeping area should have a working smoke alarm. Residents should also have a fire escape plan which they practice regularly, he advised.
