Southwestern New Hampshire Tornado Confirmed: NWS, Homeland Security
National Weather Service meteorologists confirm "tornado damage" in Dublin; NH homeland security recommends being prepared.

GRAY, ME — Forecasters with the National Weather Service have confirmed a tornado touched down in southwestern New Hampshire on Thursday.
After surveying the area, meteorologists confirmed “tornado damage” in Dublin from an EF-1 tornado. An EF-1 was described by the Department of Safety’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management as a tornado with wind gusts of between 86 and 110 mph.

“The damage observed by the team to this point is consistent with an EF 1 tornado,” an NWS alert Friday stated. “The survey team is investigating additional damage and a final assessment including all results of the survey are expected to be completed and transmitted via a Public Information Statement sometime this evening.”

The state said it was the first tornado of 2023. Two occurred in the Granite State last year. Robert Buxton, the director of state emergency management, said the store reinforced the importance of being prepared for all types of severe weather.
“Yesterday’s tornado, along with recent thunderstorms and flash flooding, serve as a reminder to residents and visitors to be prepared,” he said. “Stay informed, have a plan, and make a kit. If a warning is issued in your area of the state, take action.”
