Gun Owners, and Prospective Gun Owners Take Notice

The New Hampshire Firearms Coalition ‘2024 General Election Report Card’ for State Representatives races gives Candidate Deborah Aylward an “A” Grade. An “A” means “Solid 2nd Amendment supporter, votes with NHFC, Inc., position 100%.”

Democrat opponents Lorna Carlisle and David Nesbit received “F” Grades respectively. An “F” means “Sponsors or promotes legislation hostile to 2nd Amendment civil rights.”

So please get out and vote to protect your rights! Sitting it out on voting day, November 5th, may mean relinquishing a House seat to a Democrat, and who, according to NHFC, will support legislation that interferes with your rights! It’s up to you, the voter, to take about an hour out of your day to show up at the polls. No matter how hard candidates campaign, in the end, the results will depend on who shows up to vote!

Can District 5 inhabitants depend upon you to help send Candidate Aylward back to the House of Representatives for a second term?

The last time the Democrats had total control of the State’s checkbook, they did such a poor job that our state’s credit rating crashed and our state was left just two days from financial bankruptcy.

When you go to vote, remember, it’s all about how much of your money you want to keep. Vote Democrat for a new income tax and ever-escalating property taxes along with rising costs of energy, healthcare, and housing.

Vote Republican to continue rolling back the bloated costs of taxation, bureaucracy, regulation, and compliance that are depressing your standard of living.

Democrats believe they can tax, spend, and price control their way into prosperity. They denigrate the very businesses and individuals providing essential services like food, shelter, and healthcare.

Republicans celebrate those providers of goods and services, knowing that prosperity is only achieved by unshackling them from the chains of overbearing government.

The Republican Caucus points out Republicans’ plans to make life more affordable, while also displaying the Democrats’ dismal record of actively undermining the pocketbooks of every single Granite Stater.

Oh no. . .not more food!

Oh yes! Because I’m pleased to announce that my efforts to start a homemade food revolution with HB 1685 (w/amendment HB 2024-0038h) also known as the ‘Food Freedom Act” resulted in the organizing of a grass roots, informal, homemade food industry lobby, championed by Addie Leader-Zavos of Dunbarton, NH, which is long overdue.

In addition, I am honored to announce that with HB 1685 creating the catalyst, or blueprint for changes to the laws governing homemade food, three, prominent members of the Environment and Agriculture Committee (Rep. Judy Aaron, Chair, Rep. Barbara Comtois, Vice Chair, and ranking Democrat, Rep. Peter Bixby) have indicated that, if re-elected, they will be submitting bills to reflect the reality of the marketplace, and to affect much needed changes to RSA 143-A.

Deciding to defer to the collective wisdom and experience of these three committee members, I plan on monitoring their bills, testifying if necessary, if not also co-sponsoring the legislation.

The current law prohibits the use of commercial equipment in residential kitchens used for homemade food production. At an informal meeting organized by Rep. Aaron, comprised of the other, interested members of the committee, stakeholders and DHHS representatives, I confronted DHHS about the issue of ‘commercial refrigeration’, which in their presentation handout, indicated that ‘commercial refrigeration and dishwashers are 'not required’ — as opposed to ‘are prohibited’. DHHS subsequently confirmed that both types of commercial equipment are indeed allowed — despite what the letter of the law says!

And this exposed the real issue at hand, which is DHHS concocting ‘internal policy’ that conflicts with the laws and rules, that has producers confused, and about which, in an email authored by Mrs. Leader-Zavos, she firmly called DHHS out for failing to reflect the passage of the ‘Pickle Bill’ (allowing acidified, processed foods to be made without food licensure) on their website.

At this meeting, we learned that the Food Protection Division now has new leadership, as Colleen Smith was replaced by Erica Davis, who assured attendees that the website was 95% complete, and that the ‘Pickle Bill’ topic will be addressed.

Campaign Signs

I’m immensely pleased to announce my candidacy as a Republican candidate for State Representative, from Merrimack County, District 5 (Andover, Danbury, Hill, Salisbury, and Webster). Deeply touched by random strangers thanking me for my public service, it has been a great privilege to serve in this capacity for the past two years, and I seek to (again) earn your vote in the 2024 General Election, to be held on November 5th.

With any campaign, lyrics from a 1970s, one-hit wonder song “Sign’, performed by the Five Man Electrical Band, always comes to my mind when seeing highways and byways unnecessarily littered with scads of certain candidates’ signage, such as:

"Sign, sign, everywhere a sign, blocking out the scenery, breaking’ my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign?"

Along with taxes, campaign signs could be considered a ‘necessary evil’ — but out of respect for the inhabitants of District 5 towns, and to help preserve the incredible beauty of our rural landscapes, in 2022 I restricted myself to using only five, strategically-placed signs per town. I plan to do exactly the same this campaign season.

After all, if you’ve seen one sign, you’ve seen them all, right?

Not to mention all these signs ending up in landfills, as a campaign tactic having only a small percentage point of influence on voter share (according to various studies 1.7 to 2.5%), and though practitioners of political science may disagree, I saw no need to smother well-traveled neighborhood routes with clusters of concentrated signage -- while believing the adverse aesthetic could end up annoying (if not actually alienating) the voters I sought to attract on voting day.

There is no denying that ‘word-of-mouth' is the best form of (free) advertising and that the same holds true for attaining ’name recognition’ that goes hand-in-hand with ‘walking the walk’. The hallmark of a true Republican (and like-minded Independents) is ‘conservatism’ which, to me, in part means personally practicing restraint and frugality; while as a public servant, combating lavish spending; restricting the growth of government; upholding the rule of law; protecting property and parental rights; preventing property tax increases; defending traditional institutions, and our national and state constitutions —and helping to create good public policy.

With that said, and to spare residents and travelers from what can be considered ‘eyesores’ — in lieu of plastering your town with my campaign signs, all I ask is that you remember DEBORAH AYLWARD on voting day, and when speaking with friends or neighbors ahead of time, please remind them that DEBORAH AYWARD has strived to hold the feelings, wishes, rights, and traditions of others in due regard, and will continue to do so as their representative when re-elected. Remember ‘VOTE FOR TWO’ and may God bless you, yours, and America!

Note: Checking with an individual who is in the printing business, campaign sign substrate is made from PVC, which is recyclable, but is NOT biodegradable per se, unless subjected to extreme temperatures, such as with incineration at which point it will degrade. However, doing so releases poisonous gases, including hydrogen chloride.
