Store Prepares For New Toys [VIDEO]

Imagination Village holds 10th inventory sale.

At , the motto is, Where learning is cool. However, all those cool toys, books, and items can be a bit much to count, especially during the annual inventory process.

That’s why owner Laura Miller is hosting the store’s 10th inventory sale, in the hopes that the counting won’t be that cumbersome this year.

“We’re almost 11,” she said. “We’ll be 11 in April.”

Miller said the Christmas shopping season was good last year but now, it’s January, and it’s a bit slow. So why not have a sale? Plus, the economy hasn’t been so hot either.

“The economy is definitely a factor in our growth,” she said. “We’re very hopeful that 2012 will be a great year for us. I have some ideas for fun ways to make the business exciting, with some events planned … we’re always looking to change, grow, and develop.”

Miller admitted that being fun and having fun with the business were also priorities. And it’s noticeable.

“Thank you, we try,” she said. “It’s the best part about owning the toy store … helping people match toys to kids is part of the best part of what we do.”

After inventory is done, Miller will be heading to New York City next month for the American International Toy Fair, where toy stores, buyers, inventors and others, get to show off what they have for sale and what they’re working on.

“Then we’ll start bringing in the new games,” she said. “We have a really good time meeting inventors, seeing all the little companies there. If you walk the entire show, it’s five miles.”

Miller said that often what happens is that the inventors will go to the show and show off their new toys, whether they have a manufacturer lined up or not. If they get enough interest and orders from stores, they then find a company to build the toys and bring them to market.

“Everyone is excited,” she said. “It’s a new year.”
