Stormy Weather Possible On 2022 Primary Day In New Hampshire: Alert

NWS issues a hazardous weather outlook warning of storms and gusty winds Tuesday; AccuWeather says isolated tornadoes, downpours possible.

CONCORD, NH — As the old saying goes, vote early. Because on Tuesday, the latter half of the 2022 primary day in New Hampshire will be a stormy one.

The National Weather Service issued a “hazardous weather outlook” on Monday, warning of possible thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.

“A few of these storms may become strong with gusty winds,” the alert said. “The greatest threat for this will be along and south of the Lakes Region in New Hampshire and across far southwestern Maine.”

AccuWeather.com meteorologists warned of possible flooding in the Northeast as the storm moves north. As much as 2 inches of rain could fall in some areas. Isolated tornadoes were possible, too, forecasters said.

The NWS said to expect storms around 2 p.m. in Concord and the capital region, with rain continuing before 8 p.m. and between 8 and 11 p.m. Nashua, Hillsborough County, and western Rockingham County have a similar storm timeline. On the Seacoast, storms were expected to start by mid-afternoon, with more storms around 11 p.m.

NWS forecasters warned of as much as an inch and a half of rain in some communities.
