NH Police Use Drone To Hunt For Attempted Murder Suspect
A New Hampshire SWAT team used a drone to search for an attempted murder suspect possibly hiding out in a hotel.
CONCORD, NH — The Central NH Special Operations Unit — the SWAT team for Concord and many surrounding communities — was activated on Thursday at the Holiday Inn on North Main Street to search for attempted murder suspect Michael Ames. Police had the hotel staked out, looking for Ames, at just after 9:30 a.m. At one point, a woman possibly involved in the case was spotted near the hotel lobby door and detained by police.
The full SOU team arrived at the hotel sometime after 11 a.m. and held a staging area on Storrs Street for more than three hours. Midway through the presence at the hotel, officers were called to the Storrs Street Garage for a report of two men, one who looked like the subject the team was looking for. The men, however, were not involved in the case.

The team closed streets downtown for about 30 minutes — limiting traffic on Storrs Street while closing North Main Street from two directions around the hotel — at around 1 p.m.
During the closure, an officer spotted a man — known to police — who was reportedly involved in the case. The man saw the police action and attempted to leave the area while members of the team went to speak with him.

According to information sent to Patch and posted on Facebook, employees at the hotel were moved to the dining room area of the building and not allowed to leave. An employee reported that a drone was being used by police, tracking a man in a room on the second floor.
At around 1:30 p.m., all the streets were reopened to traffic and by 2 p.m., most of the SOU staging area on Storrs Street had cleared.
Police later reported that they were searching for Ames who is suspect in an attempted murder case at the Families In Transition apartment building at Market Lane in Bicentennial Square from Aug. 1.
