‘Take Me, I’m Guilty,’ Man Says After Assault Incident: Report

Court docs: Michael Guyette of Concord was arrested for assault after a woman turned off a TV during the New England Patriots game.

CONCORD, NH — A local man was arrested last month and held without bail after a family fight during a football game, according to police and a court affidavit. Michael Guyette, 47, of Fisherville Road in Concord, was arrested on Nov. 12, 2017, and charged with simple assault and domestic violence-simple assault. According to a court affidavit, officers were called to an apartment on Fisherville Road at just before 10:30 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance with a woman alleging that a relative was intoxicated, had assaulted her, and was breaking stuff.

The officers spoke to the victim outside who reportedly stated that she turned off the television and afterward, walked away from the living room and after doing so, “Guyette came up behind her and shoved her.” He then allegedly tried to take her keys but she stopped him.

“While doing so, he continued to hit her with an opened hand in the face and (on) her upper body,” the officer reported. “(The victim) stated they were the only two people in the apartment.

The officers went into the apartment and spoke with Guyette who allegedly admitted to drinking earlier in the day. While he spoke, he “slurred his speech and struggled to sit upright,” according to the report. When asked why he alleged shoved the woman, he “mumbled something unrecognizable” and then, pointed toward the television and said, “Patriots,” who were playing the Denver Broncos.

“Guyette then stood up and placed his hands behind his back and stated, ‘Take me, I’m guilty,’” the reporting officer alleged.

The officer told him that, at that point in the investigation, he was not under arrest. But he allegedly countered that they fought all the time and lowered his head. So, officers arrested him.

During processing, Guyette allegedly repeatedly stated, “I’m guilty,” refused to see a bail commissioner, and was taken to the Merrimack County House of Corrections.
