Teens Injured After Driving Into Merrimack River: Cops

Hooksett Police and Fire and Rescue teams rescue two men this afternoon after they crashed and were trapped inside a Chevy Aveo.

HOOKSETT, NH - Two teens are being treated at area hospitals after a car crashed into the Merrimack River this afternoon in Hooksett, according to police.

At just before 1 p.m. on March 27, 2016, Hooksett Police and fire and rescue teams were sent to West River Road for a vehicle crash, according to a post on Facebook.

First responders located the vehicle, a 2010 Chevy Aveo, just south of the weigh station. The vehicle was travelling south on West River Road when it reported swerved across the northbound lane of travel.

From there, according to police, it drove approximately 20 feet through the woods before driving off an embankment and landing on its passenger side in the river, according to police.

Two teens - a Concord man and a Manchester man - were inside the vehicle with injuries and unable to exit the vehicle, according to the report. Hooksett Fire and Police personnel entered the river and removed both occupants. They were both transported with non-life threatening injuries to area hospitals.

At this time the accident remains under investigation, according to police.
