Two from Northfield Arrested at Hannaford
Concord Police: Couple hid after allegedly stealing soda, water, and cookies.

Two people are facing theft charges after allegedly getting caught stealing food items at the Hannaford on Fort Eddy Road.
Alissa M. Philpot, 22, of Northfield, was arrested at 3:35 p.m. on Aug. 12, on a theft charge, while Joshua Thomas Defeo, 23, of Northfield, was charged with theft and default or breach of bail conditions.
According to arrest reports, officers were called to Hannaford on Fort Eddy Road for a report of a woman shoplifter who was now running towards the Auto Zone. A store employee alleged that the woman stole a bottle of Smart water, valued at $1.25.

After arriving at the scene, one of the officers observed the woman and alleged that she “looked directly at me then ran in between the wall and some shrubs” outside of Uno’s on Fort Eddy Road. The officers found the woman allegedly hiding behind some bushes.
The store employee alleged that the woman was with a man who was also stealing items.

The woman, later identified as Philpot, allegedly said she was alone in the store when “a creepy guy” approached her. She said she was scared, and left the store without paying for the water, but said she would go back and pay for it.
Later though, Philpot said the guy’s name was “Josh” and she just met him earlier today.
Another store employee reportedly found the man, identified as Joshua Defeo, hiding behind the building. He was brought to the office while officers checked video surveillance footage.
The officer wrote in the report that it looked as if Philpot was with Defeo. The officer alleged that the woman took cookies and Smart water and put them in her purse while Defeo took a two liter bottle of Coke, valued at $1.69, and both allegedly left the store without paying for the items.
Defeo, according to police, was out on bail from an Aug. 4, arrest on simple assault and criminal mischief charges from Franklin District Court and was ordered, as a condition of bail, to stay away from Philpot. He was later arrested, refused bail, and was arraigned on Aug. 13.
Previously, Defeo was arrested in Tilton in November 2012 on a conspiracy to sell heroin charge, according to the Winnisquam Echo.
Philpot was arrested and later released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail. She is due in court on Sept. 16.
