Two Injured After Bottle Attack at Downtown Bar

Scott Hollis arrested by Concord Police after assaulting man with a beer bottle; witness gets cut with debris, sent to the hospital.

A local man is facing felony assault and reckless conduct charges after an incident last month at The Draft on South Main Street.

Scott D. Hollis, of Rex Drive in Concord, was arrested at 12:15 a.m. on Feb. 11, 2015, on second-degree assault and reckless conduct; place another in danger charges, both felonies, as well as a simple assault charge.

According to an arrest report and court affidavit, officers were sent to The Draft for a report of an assault where “two people were injured and bleeding and the suspect was being detained by employees who were holding him on the floor.”

The man being detained, Hollis, reportedly told officers that he saw a man in the bar that two weeks before had “attempted to make sexual advances on his friend and made her feel uncomfortable to a point where she had to tell him to stop,” according to the report.

“Hollis told me that he intended to send a message to this guy,” the officer alleged.

Hollis allegedly picked up a beer bottle and struck the other man in the left side of the forehead causing lacerations. A piece of the bottle then cut another man nearby in the arm. That man needed to be transported to Concord Hospital for stitches in his arm.

“Hollis told me that he wanted (the victim) to be aware that if he messed with his friends, he would have to pay the price,” the officer alleged.

Hollis refused bail and was held and arraigned later that day.

According to online reports, Hollis has had previous run-ins with the law.

Back in August 2013, he was arrested for indecent exposure and lewdness after allegedly “fondling” himself in front of others in the Sewalls Falls Road Recreation Area. He was also arrested on driving charges two days after that incident, according to reports on Patch. In March 2012, he was arrested for DWI after being stopped on I-93 by the New Hampshire State Police on St. Patrick’s Day.
