‘Violent’ NH Fugitive, Possibly In Maine, Sought By U.S. Marshals

CONCORD, NH — The U.S. Marshals-New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is asking for the public’s help searching for a felon with a history of violence who is wanted on bail violations after being accused of strangling and assaulting a child.

Zachary Alexander Sutton is 29, about 6 feet, 3 inches tall, and weighs around 200 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Sutton, who is originally from Massachusetts, has tattoos on his chest and the left and right front parts of his arms.

Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal, said a warrant for Sutton’s arrest was issued on April 8 by the Strafford County Superior Court.

“Sutton is wanted for bail violations stemming from alleged domestic violence assault charges that reportedly included the act of strangulation,” White said. “Sutton has a history of burglary, drug use, absconding, and assaultive behavior.”

Sutton has ties to both Berwick, Maine, and Rochester, and was last known to be employed by a roofing and renovation company out of Lebanon, ME, White said.

According to the alert, the task force has also put a “violent tendencies” warning on Sutton due to past crimes.

Anyone who knows where Sutton is or sees someone who looks like him should not try to apprehend him. Contact police or the task force at 603-225-1632.

According to superior court records, Sutton’s current case involves two felony second-degree assault-strangulation and two simple assault charges against a child under 13 from May 2020 in Rochester. The charges were filed in January 2021.

Back in December 2015 and January 2016, Sutton was charged with receiving stolen property-$1,501+ and receiving stolen property-$1,501+-criminal liability for the conduct of another. He pleaded guilty, about six months later, to the liability count.

Sutton was arrested on two drug charges and another receiving stolen property charge in Rochester in December 2016 which led to a guilty plea on a single drug count and the property charge in April 2017 as well as a guilty plea on a violation of probation or parole charge.

In May 2017, Sutton was charged with drug possession, but the single count was nolle prossed later.

In Rochester again, in September 2018, he was charged with drug possession, meth possession, and resisting arrest or detention charges and pleaded to the single drug count.

Sutton was charged with a delivery of weapon or contraband charge in Dover in May 2019 and pleaded guilty later. In September 2019, he was charged with controlled drug: controlled premises where drugs kept.
