During the investigation and cleanup of the crash scene, the street was closed for around six and a half hours.
“The driver of the vehicle did not stop and has not been identified at this point in time,” he said. “(The) preliminary investigation has determined that the victim was walking east on Clinton Street wearing a high visibility vest. The victim was struck by the passenger side mirror of a passing vehicle.”
Initially, police reported the vehicle was dark-colored and possibly an SUV, based on comments by the victim. However, evidence recovered from the scene that was analyzed suggested the suspect vehicle is a 2015 to 2017 Volkswagen Jetta.
“The vehicle color is unknown but it is missing the passenger side mirror,” Thomas added.
The Jetta drove east from the scene toward South Street.
Several witnesses were interviewed at the scene but police are asking for anyone who may have seen the crash or has information about the case to contact police at 603-225-8600 or by submitting information anonymously through the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100.
