Watch: Get Ready For A Ghoulish Time On Concord's Wedgewood Drive

With trick-or-treaters tapering off, Richard Slavin hopes his home, all decked out for Halloween, will bring the ghouls and goblins back.

CONCORD, NH — Halloween is about two weeks away and if you are interested in putting yourself in the haunting spirit, stop by 12 Wedgewood Drive on the Concord Heights, between dusk at 10 p.m., to check out the light and decoration display put together by Richard Slavin. You'll see dancing ghosts, fog machines, strobe lights, and large spiders crawling up the side of his house which are bound to put anyone in a spook-tacular mood. Slavin has lived in the home for more than two decades and during that time, has noticed fewer and fewer trick-or-treaters.

So, he has been working to get all the witches, ghosts, and others, back to the neighborhood for a little frightening fun.

"I started out with just a few tombstones one year," he said. "I had a good time with it and then, slowly but surely, the children have asked for more and more … and it's turned into this … scene … a spectacle."

This year, he has blown through a number of motors on some of the features – including a skull that pops out from behind a gravestone and spinning skulls made out of plastic grocery bags with nets flowing behind them.

Each year, it's a slight challenge to put together. Slavin takes about three weeks to get it ready, meticulously placing items around his lawn, to ensure that everyone can see everything and that the lighting is "creepy enough," he said. On Wednesday, Slavin was prepping for the Nor'easter, grabbing a few loose items, although he was pretty confident that his decorations were solid and wouldn't be flying around the neighborhood on their own, like witches on brooms.

"(It's about) bringing everyone back and having fun during the holidays," he said, with a giggle, "and seeing the joy in everyone's faces … or the fright. Whatever's applicable. It's a good thing. I really like to seeing all the happy faces."

Access Slavin's home via Woodcrest Heights Drive to Pine Acres Road not NE Village Road, like cellphone maps suggest, which has a gate at the end of the road, making access to the home difficult.
