Weather Forecasters: 4 To 11 Inches Of Snow Coming To New Hampshire

A hazardous weather outlook and winter storm watch have been issued for NH, calling for snow between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning.

CONCORD, NH — The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook-wind advisory and a winter storm watch on Friday morning for New Hampshire.

The wind advisory warned of 15 to 25 mph winds, with gusts as high as 45 mph, until 7 p.m. Friday evening.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects,” the alert stated. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”

The watch alert warned that somewhere between 4 and 11 inches of snow between Saturday afternoon and early Monday morning were likely in most of the central and southern parts of the state. As much as 13 inches were possible in the North Country. Forecasters also said “heavy, mixed precipitation” was possible with sleet and ice accumulations.

“Periods of moderate and heavy wintry precipitation will combine with low visibility to create dangerous driving conditions,” the alert stated.

The NWS winter storm watch runs from 2 p.m. on Saturday to 4 a.m. on Monday.

AccuWeather.com predicted anywhere from 3 to 6 inches in central and southern New Hampshire with somewhere between 6 and 18 inches in the Lakes Region and North Country. Due to ice, its forecasters placed a “significant” travel warning for Concord and Manchester, west and southwest to Lebanon and Keene, to the Vermont border.

Storm Timeline

For Concord and the capital region, snow is expected to start around 5 p.m. Saturday and last through 1 a.m. Monday. On Sunday morning through the afternoon, the snow will switch to rain and then change again. Forecasters expect somewhere between 5 to 9 inches of snow.

For Nashua, central and western Hillsborough County, and inland Rockingham County, the storm will start around 5 p.m. Saturday and last until 10 p.m. Sunday. Forecasters expect between 4 and 8 inches.

On the Seacoast, the storm is expected to start around 7 p.m. Saturday and last until 1 a.m. Monday. Accumulations will be between 5 and 11 inches.

Another ice and snow storm is also expected on Thursday.
